This morning, I had the opportunity to talk about my book Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles live on a local news station. My daughters and I woke up early (for us) and arrived at the news station around 6:30 this morning.
I was happy my family was given the opportunity to see “behind the scenes” of the news station and watch my segment being taped live. I was really nervous earlier this week wondering what I would say and how badly I would embarrass myself on live TV; however, I think it went well (other than the fact I managed to lock myself out of the building before my interview).
Once on air, I actually felt more at peace than I did earlier this week (even though I was still a little nervous). You can check out the news segment yourself here.
Following my interview and a commercial break, we were able to stick around to watch the next segment about Chef Elizabeth making quick pickles, which is something anyone can do at home. She also talked more about the upcoming Pickle Event that will be taking place this Tuesday, November 14th on National Pickle Day at the Marion Hy-Vee, which I am excited about. Children will be given the opportunity to make quick pickles, taste test pickles, get a quick tour of a part of the store, and listen to me read Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles. The best part about it is that the Marion Hy-Vee has agreed to donate $1.99 of each book sold that day in their store to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids! Have a wonderful day!
