Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles

Why Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles?

If you have read my post entitled The Next Book, you know that I am in the process of writing a book entitled Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles. Here is a little information about the reason for this story.

One day, as I was out in my garden picking cucumbers to turn into pickles, my sister called me. She was talking about how much she enjoyed writing, illustrating, and publishing a children’s book a couple of years earlier, and she wanted to share with me a rough draft of a story that she had created about a chipmunk. It had a fun rhythm to it because it continuously repeated a particular phrase for the chipmunk. She really wanted to continue writing books to publish; however, her time was consumed between working multiple jobs, finishing her college degree, and life in general. She knew that I enjoyed writing, so she said that we should make some kind of pact to encourage one another. She would finish her degree, and I would start taking time to actually write. I’m not sure if she was being serious or goofy, but she suggested that I should write a story about pickles (since I was in the process of picking cucumbers to make them). Well, Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles was my response to her.  Now, I am in the process of having it published.

Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles is meant for preschool aged children (and my sister) to enjoy. Children will have fun reciting “Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles” numerous times throughout the reading of the story as they learn about the process of turning seeds bought at a store into pickles to enjoy at home.

Just incase you missed reading my post entitled The Next Book, here is a summary of Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles: A young boy who really likes pickles wants to grow pickles in his garden, but he is surprised by what he discovers. There are no bread and butter pickle plants or dill pickle trees. He learns a lot as he and him mom transform seeds from the store into yummy pickles to enjoy on everything from hot dogs to ice cream. Well, maybe not ice cream!

Stay tuned for more posts about Pickles, Pickles, I Like Pickles and to find out when it will finally be published. There is still a lot that needs to be done to get it completely finished!

Have a wonderful day!

    1. I sent you a personal response right after you sent this message; however, I just wanted to say thank you again for commenting. My family has enjoyed making homemade pickles for a number of years. I am a little disappointed that we were unable to grow cucumbers this year due to some circumstances; however, hopefully we will be able to grow some again next year for some fresh homemade pickles. Yum!
